Beastverse Weekly Recap #2

NFTs IRL! BAYC hitting 100. Cool Pets takes time. VCs and Wall Street bullish on the Metaverse. The Community excited about web2 vs web3 and many more! LGGG!

Gm gm,

I started these regular weekly recaps just a week ago, and I am motivated by your amazing feedback and support! This web3 space is exceptionally supportive, and I can see we have no time for gossip because we are busy building! I love it, and it is so beautiful to see how everyone contributes to this early space their own way. Let's jump straight in!

NFTs are becoming a Part of our daily Lives

It's been only 3 months since the NFT NYC and the NFT wall in Williamsburg. Millions of people have seen it online and IRL. The avatars are slowly becoming a part of our daily lives, and we see the NFT murals in cities around the globe! Huge Spesh by Danny Casale now guarding the streets of Vancouver, Robotos appeared in Barcelona, Apes, Goats and other Frens in Miami. What a great way to bridge the digital with the physical and allow people to get familiar with things we see every day.

BAYC hits 100 ETH price Floor

We ended the month with a record monthly NFT trading volume. The NFT blue-chip collections prices were pumping at the beginning of the week, and we again saw a correlation between NFTs and the ether price. ETH down, NFTs up. Yes, people still think in fiat money.😉

This week, Cool Cats smashed a record 15 ETH price floor. Deadfellaz jumped above 4 ETH, and Apes went crazy. BAYC hit 100 ETH (~ $245,000) and Mutants over 20 ETH. Deepak Thapliyal bought a gold Ape for record 1080.69 ETH and Justin Bieber a floor one for 500 ETH. Financial Times also reported that BAYC creator Yuga Labs talks with a16z VC to secure funding, setting the startup valuation at $5 billion. Insane!🔥

Cool Pets takes Time

We love the cats. They just take a little longer this time. The minting of Pets started on the 31st. Shortly after, it was paused to make a DNS change and on Friday resumed again. At the time of writing, a little over 7,000 Pets were claimed with a floor of around 2.1 ETH. Allowlist is pushed for Monday. Public mint for Tuesday. So we gotta hatch em' all finally next week!

Wall Street and VCs believe in the Metaverse

We saw another extremely bullish predictions in favour of ETH and the Metaverse. In a note to investors, Morgan Stanley said that the virtual space would become an $8 trillion market in the future. The exact estimate made Goldman Sachs a few days earlier. Cathie Wood's Ark Invest managing $50 billion in assets, expects the total market cap of ETH to hit $20 trillion by 2030. We're not the only ones who believe it is just the beginning...😏

Web3 Startups becoming Unicorns🦄

Phantom Solana wallet raised $109 million from Paradigm VC and, with its new valuation, over $1.2 billion hit the unicorn status. They also released its iOS app and aim to onboard 50 million users by the end of 2022.

Dune Analytics were the second web3 startup securing the funding this week. Dune raised over $69 million to achieve their mission of becoming the leading web3 analytical tool with a community of over 1 million analysts called Dune Wizards🧙‍♂️ They reached the unicorn status too, indeed.

And the creator of PunksComic and Metahero Universe, PixelVault, raised $100 million to become the NFT media empire!

Apes and ETH gone again

Blockchain is immutable, so the data entered is irreversible. It means no central entity can recover our assets if anything goes wrong. So each of us is a small bank that owns our coins and NFTs and is fully responsible. Unfortunately, even this week, we've seen several hacks and lost Apes and other NFTs.

The Wormhole network was exploited for 120,000 WETH. So, $320 million gone. Wormhole offered the hacker a $10 million bug bounty if they sent it back. Obviously, it was not accepted. It took only 16 hours to recapitalize the contract with the new 120,000 ETH ($320 million) to ensure that all Wormhole-wrapped ether on every chain is fully backed. Wow.

And Larry lost his Apes while the community was watching live. The hacker sent over 600 ETH to an ETH mixer protocol to anonymously cash it out. Scary… How did it happen? Fake announcement. Fake link. Fake mint. Larry was trying to mint 14 of the fake NFTs. He set an approval on his wallet that approved all his Apes and Mutants being sent to the attacker. Never click on DM links, please. Never ever🙏

And the community is excited about the “web2 me vs web3 me” tweets, haha. Ordered my crown so will pick it up tomorrow, lol. Some of the better ones below👇 and… LFGGG!💙
