We're back, ChatGPT Plugins Revolution, Otherside Opens to Creators, Celebrating Star Wars Day

Gm friends,

Happy Thursday and welcome back to my newsletter.

For nearly two years, I've been curating news, updates, and NFT culture on my Instagram. Instagram Stories serves me as a canvas where I can filter what I consider important and add a short opinion. It's been an incredible journey.

While I love sharing these short pieces of news and culture, I often find myself wanting to say more. There's always a wealth of learnings and interesting stories each week that I can't fit into my Instagram posts. So I've decided to start a weekly newsletter featuring a few pieces of news and insights that I've found interesting.

Thank you for joining me on this journey, and let's dive in.

(1) ChatGPT will revolutionize the way we use computers

We're entering a historic period right now, where we as a world are going to define a technology that will be so important for society to move forward.

The president and co-founder of OpenAI revealed how our interaction with computers will change forever. According to his words, we are only months away from this shift becoming a reality.

The game-changing technology is Plugins for ChatGPT. Think of these Plugins like apps (similar to those in the App Store) but built for AI instead of humans. Let me give you an example.

Imagine you want to tweet a 15-minute video you found on the internet, but you want to use only the first 30 seconds. Also, you want to add subtitles to make it more engaging. How do you do this today? 👇

A simple task, but an overwhelming process.

How will this change with the Plugins?

ChatGPT will use "Save," "Adobe," and "Zapier" Plugins to automatically download and edit the video, create a tweet, add the edited video to it, and ask you for approval. If you approve, the tweet is out, and people can go and start liking it.

From around 10 actions you previously did, you now simply type a sentence and click to publish, all within the ChatGPT interface. This is incredible, and it has the potential to simplify most daily processes to just one sentence.

It's wild to think we're only months away from it.

(2) Otherside will welcome creators this year

I think that a goal for success is that in December, we can all be asleep and somebody else is building on the Otherside—and they don't need us. They're building their community, they're building activations and experiences of their own… and they have all the tooling to do that.

Digital worlds will create massive opportunities for creators. The Yuga Labs team behind Otherside shared with us the plans of how to bring the platform to life.

Otherside will open more frequently to people as it keeps testing and building towards a live product. While the last two Trips were a big, social spectacle for the landholders, they also provided social and technical feedback for the team. To gather even more feedback and see what features people need, Yuga plans to move to a model that opens the world up every few weeks. That's exactly what we should see in the coming months. If all goes well, the world will be open to other builders by the end of this year, enabling the creation of user-generated content that will live on Otherdeed land plots.

So get ready, the opportunities are coming.

(3) May the 4th be with you

Today is Star Wars day, and millions of fans will be celebrating their favorite characters. While the movie was released in 1977, the idea came to George Lucas' mind in 1970 – yes, 7 years earlier – and he spent years working on his script and developing the characters.

Lucas drew inspiration from various sources, including mythology, history, religion, and classic adventure serials. He was also influenced by the works of Joseph Campbell, which explore the common narrative patterns found in myths and stories across different cultures.

Following the success of the original film, Lucas expanded the universe to include novels, comics, and other media that helped shape the stories of the characters over the coming decades.

What can NFT collectors learn from this? When a project tells you they're building the next Disney or Star Wars, simply having a cute character isn't enough. Creating the next Chewbacca involves developing a rich backstory and narrative over time, allowing people to connect with it. There will surely be projects that will succeed, it just won't happen overnight.

So have fun on the way, and May the Force be with you.

That’s all for this week.

Much love.
