Weekly Learnings #10
Here is what fascinated me this week...

Gm fam,
Here is what I learned and found fascinating this week:

What fascinated me
1/ Zuckerberg is determined to reach a billion users with his new app, Threads. His approach is a masterclass in how to scale a new app as quickly as possible, with the goal to become number one. The app is fast, simple, addictive, and extremely user-friendly. No DMs to keep the timeline active and no ads to annoy users. It's no coincidence the launch comes at a time when Twitter is struggling with bot issues and forcing users to pay. Within just five days, Threads has managed to attract nearly 100 million users, and it doesn't even include Europe yet…

2/ ChatGPT now includes a Code Interpreter, which allows anyone to become a data scientist. The thread below will show you how to use this new tool to organize data, extract text from images, create visuals, generate animations, QR codes, and even videos - all with the simplicity of typing a prompt. Wild.

3/ Interest in AI appears to have peaked, and the fervor is starting to cool down. Much like the trend with NFTs in January 2022, people are gradually showing less interest in AI. This is a common pattern with every new major technology that eventually revolutionizes the world. The hype fades, but the true innovators and the technology itself persist.

Threads that provided value
1/ Royalties and the future of NFTs by Punk6529.
In my world, in 2030, we'll have tens or hundreds of millions of NFT users, using NFTs for everything from, sure, expensive art, to day to day digital objects to their Chipotle coupon card. The idea that any of this will change based on the floor price of BAYC in 2023 is daft.

Podcasts I enjoyed
1/ Great conversation with MrBeast about his thought process, which can be applied to building a business or personal brand. His videos are getting bigger and bigger, with costs that are reaching up to $4 million per video. During the interview, what fascinated me was his explanation for launching his chocolate brand, Feastables. He dreams of making even bigger and more expensive videos, but the reality is that there are no longer enough brands who can afford to sponsor him. So, he's building a completely new food business, Feastables, to finance his videos. His determination to be the number one YouTuber in the world is awe-inspiring.
2/ Vitalik discusses the future of crypto in a very understandable way. He also covers AI, Elon and Twitter, and the vision for Ethereum aimed at solving real problems for people. Appreciate the zoomed-out, bigger-picture point of view on the crypto space.
Articles I am reading
Paul Graham, the founder of Y Combinator, dropped an essay on how to do great work. It is about 60 min long and guides you on how to find what you want to do and how to do really exceptional work. You can read it here.
He also shares some nice tips on writing like a pro :)
