Weekly Learnings #11

Here is what fascinated me this week...

Gm fam,

Here is a quick list of things I found fascinating this week across Web3, AI, and the Creator Economy, along with a few Personal Growth reminders I love. Enjoy!

Web3

1/ Great example of how blockchain can be used to secure a loan against a luxury watch. You send your watch to an escrow company, receive an NFT that signifies the ownership of the watch, and get money from a lender. The lender doesn't even need to know your name; they just need to verify that you're the rightful owner of the watch - something they can confirm through the NFT. It's always great to see some real blockchain use-cases.

2/ Google now supports NFTs and other blockchain-based services on Google Play. This move sends a powerful message to developers that NFTs are now welcome in mobile apps. It's a significant step towards Web3 and digital ownership becoming an expectation rather than a right we have to fight for.

3/ Sound.xyz raised an additional $20 million and I finally got around to testing their app. The app reminds me of SoundCloud where you can discover new music. Musicians can drop new songs directly on the platform and you can support them by either buying their NFT or simply listening to their music for free. It's a viable alternative to streaming platforms like Spotify or Apple Music, where only 0.1% of musicians can earn a living wage from their art. You can download the app and test it out here.

AI

1/ This is absolutely mind-blowing. Conversational AI is on its way, and if you click through this tweet, you'll see a video of an AI salesperson selling a Tesla to a customer who has no idea that he's talking to an AI, not a human. Will AI salespeople become the norm?

2/ Shopify now provides every entrepreneur with an AI personal assistant named Sidekick. What I enjoyed about this video was seeing how we'll soon interact with websites and computers in general. Need to know something? Ask the assistant. Want to change something? Tell the assistant. The assistant will be familiar with what you’re working on, your personal style, your goals... We'll each have our own trained buddy that will work with us to make our lives easier.

3/ Elon Musk launched his new venture, xAI. It's essentially a competitor to Google and OpenAI, with the aim of building a 'good AGI' to understand the universe. He hosted an hour-long Space where he introduced the company, and this recap essentially sums up everything he said in one tweet. 👇

Creator Economy

1/ Creators are receiving their first checks for content made on Twitter. Around $5 million will be distributed from ad revenues to creators, and we can likely expect to see more if Elon manages to attract advertisers. NFT God shared some tips on how to start if you aspire to become a content creator and grow your audience on Twitter.

Quantum Computing

1/ I don't normally discuss quantum computing, but this is quite impressive. Google shared more details about its Quantum Computer this week, and it's genuinely a beast. A task that would take 47 years to solve now takes just 6 seconds. It's going to redefine what computing can do, so if you want to quickly learn how it works, just click through the tweet below. We’re still in the early stages, but it’s astounding.

Personal Growth

1/ There are no dumb questions, only missed opportunities to learn something new.

2/ Patience doesn't equate to standing still. It's about moving forward, knowing that every step you take brings you closer to your goals.

3/ Just love this image so much - fear x greed.

Have a beautiful day fam,

Beast.
