Weekly Learnings #15
10 things I've learned this week...

Hi fam,
Today, I'm walking you through 10 things across Web3, creator economy, and growth that I’ve learned this week.
Enjoy!
🎙️ Spaces I spoke in this week:
10 things I’ve learned this week:
1. Projects and communities will support you if you build around your PFP.
I launched Beasty & Beany and was extremely surprised by all the love and support from the community, including the project teams. Many holders are transitioning from passive collectors to active builders, and I see this trend continuing. The bear market is the best time to build because expectations are low, and everyone is approachable and willing to help.

2. Onchain Summer offers an opportunity to secure extra cash.
Coinbase launched the Base protocol this week, accompanied by a series of grants that support builders. If you're into art, content creation, or building products in Web3, check out Prop House. Onchain Summer has only 60 Proposals, and they'll select 10. There are pretty good odds you’ll make it if you create something meaningful. $3,700 check. 🤞

3. If you own an ape or mutant, apply for the Made by Apes license.
This offers another opportunity to give your product extra visibility. More collections will join soon, so if you haven't aped in yet, no worries. You can apply here.

4. Wreck League allows you to profit by selling Mechs to the public.
Super interesting gaming model for the upcoming Yuga Labs x Animoca Brands mobile game. Wreck League uses two parallel versions of a game, one with NFTs and the other free-to-play. Going the NFT route, you can create copies of your character and sell them to players in the in-game store. KYC is required for minting and closes on August 15th. Join here.

5. If you’re a creator, build your newsletter.
This week DeeKay was banned on social media for his animation. Having your audience gives you incredible leverage because you can be your own media. But, don’t rely solely on social media. Those followers aren’t truly yours and can vanish. As fully functional decentralized alternatives aren't here yet, collecting emails through a newsletter remains the best strategy.

We’re halfway through. Subscribe for free if you haven’t done so yet.
6. PayPal's stablecoin on Ethereum comes with a catch.
PayPal introduced a stablecoin on Ethereum backed by dollar deposits, US treasuries, and cash equivalents. Arguably W for crypto adoption, but with a catch - your money can be frozen. Devs analyzing the code found a function allowing PayPal to freeze funds similarly to traditional banks. Hmmm. 🤔
So the PayPal stablecoin contract:
- Is written in an extremely old version of Solidity
- Allows the owner to pause all transfers
- Allows the owner to freeze addresses to prevent actions
- Allows admins to increase the total supply at willCentralized, but transparent at least.

7. NFT space is still so tiny that it can grow 100x in the coming years.
I know, bold prediction. But look at the illustration below. Elon Musk alone is valued at over 10x the entire NFT market. We’re still so early.

8. OpusClips can generate clips from YouTube for you.
I am trying out this app that auto-clips long videos into short content. The first 60 minutes are free, so you can go and test it out.

9. There are no shortcuts, but it helps to know where you want to be.
I read Relentless by Tim Grover, who coached legends like Kobe Bryant and Michael Jordan. He doesn't just train athletes, but also entrepreneurs. I took a piece of paper this week and spent some time answering where I want to be and what I am willing to do to get there. Sounds simple, but having clear direction always helps.

10. Progress is never a straight line.
You might struggle for 99 days without results, but on the 100th day, everything changes. Too many people quit right when they're about to succeed. Keep going 🤝
Hope you enjoyed this newsletter and learned with me.
Have a great new week.
